TRAVERSE CITY — Mary Anna Wilcox, 96, long-time resident of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at her home in Traverse City.Mary was born Oct. 30, 1915, to the late Daniel and Catherine "Katie" (McCulloch) Rose, in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to the Grand Traverse area in 1930, and grew up on the family farm in the Boardman River valley. Mary entered into marriage with Perry Wilcox on March 28, 1942, in Traverse City.Mary made her living working for various canning companies. She was an active and vital member of Grawn Bible Methodist Church, formerly College Terrace Church. Mary taught Sunday school for many years and was strong in her faith. She loved gardening and volunteering at nursing homes, visiting and helping the elderly.Mary will be deeply missed by many.Mary is survived by her numerous nieces, nephews; many other loving family members; her church family; and several neighbors and friends.Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; brothers, Charlie Rose, Bob Rose, Archie Rose, and Harry Rose; her sister, Jane Compton; and her parents.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home, with Pastor Matt Orvis officiating.
