Matthew Walton Lord, 37, of Traverse City passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Matt was born in Gaylord on Monday, February 4, 1980. He attended St. Francis Schools and graduated from St. Francis High School. He continued his education at NMC. On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, he married the former Erin Sannes at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City.

Working in operations for the former Brown Lumber Company for a number of years, Matt also worked with other building supply companies in the area. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the NRA and enjoyed fly fishing and bird hunting. His greatest joy was his children Neva and Boden, his family and many friends.

Matt is survived by his wife Erin; his children Neva and Boden; parents, Mark and Connie Lord of Kingsley; aunt Barbara Baker of Kingsley and many, many friends, including Brian McManus, Lois McManus, J.R. Houdek, Heather Houdek and Brian Schmuckal.

The funeral service for Matt will take place at 4 p.m. Friday January 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Zagore officiating. Visitation will begin at the church beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Rather than flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions to an educational fund for Neva and Boden be considered.
