Matthew S. Page of Traverse City, Michigan, age 36, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born to Scott and Barbara (Becker) Page on March 23, 1987, in Traverse City.
Matt spent his formative years in Traverse City where he enjoyed playing sports (especially golf and baseball), and spending time with his friends and family. As a child, he could often be found playing catch in the backyard with his sister or a neighborhood friend. In middle school and high school, he played football, basketball and baseball, and worked at The Crown golf course in the summers. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 2006 and later graduated from Michigan State University with his Bachelor's degree in Communications and Advertising. After graduating from Michigan State, he moved back to Traverse City to be closer to family and worked various jobs in the hospitality industry.
Although he possessed a quiet demeanor, Matt was intelligent and quick-witted and loved to engage in discussions about global events, politics, and social justice causes. He was also deeply interested in protecting and conserving the earth and he appreciated the natural beauty surrounding him here in northern Michigan. He loved animals and enjoyed taking his dog, Pippa on long walks on the many trails in the area.
Above all else, Matt was a tender-hearted and compassionate soul who had a kind word for anyone he encountered. He expressed gratitude and acceptance for others without expecting anything in return. He was an incredibly loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. His blessed memory will live on in the hearts of those that are left behind.
Matt is survived by his mother, Barb Page; his father and stepmother, Scott and Barbara Jean Page; his sister Christen (Zachary) Lipschutz; his nephew Micah Page Lipschutz, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Maryann Page, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Matt was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Rosalie Becker, his Aunt Patrice Becker, and his cousin, Jon Becker.
The family invites you to join them in remembering Matthew for a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, immediately followed by a luncheon. There will also be a one-hour visitation preceding the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. All the events will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 630 S West Silver Lake Rd, Traverse City, Michigan 49685.
