Matthew Joseph Stallman

October 10, 1977 — February 2, 2023

Matthew Joseph Stallman, 45, of Traverse City went to his Heavenly home on February 2, 2023.

Matthew was born on October 10, 1977 in Traverse City to Mark Joseph Stallman and Bonnie Lou Smyser.

He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1995 and earned his Associates Degree from ITT Tech. He started a career designing trusses, followed by driving for Schwan's and later working in insurance. He loved working at Schwan's, where he made many friends, and genuinely enjoyed serving and caring for his friends.

Matthew was a devoted Catholic and greatly enjoyed sharing the Good Word with others. He was a loyal member and strong leader of the Knights of Columbus, and this past year earned the rank of Grand Knight. He was also active with CRHP (Christ Renews His Parish). He loved sharing with others his faith and the good works of Jesus and the Church. He was proud to act in the Living Last Supper, where he was able to portray the apostle Peter. He also led a Wednesday morning Eucharistic Adoration. He found great meaning in praying the rosary and sharing his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary with others.

His children, Ben and Amanda were truly his pride and joy. They were his everything. He loved being their father and spending time with them. He also enjoyed supporting St. Francis school sporting events and was an enthusiastic and engaged super fan for GTACS. He played sports at St. Francis and his love for supporting others only grew as he got older. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents William and Marceline Stallman and Ted and Marian Smyser.

Matthew is survived by his son Ben; daughter Amanda; father Mark Stallman; mother Bonnie (Eric) Chryst; Ben and Amanda's mom Jessica Bedker; his brothers Martin Joseph (Angela), William Joseph (Emily), Tony Joseph (Jessica) and Thomas Joseph (Emily) Stallman; his aunts and uncles Marcie, William, Rita, Mary, Andrea and Marilyn; grandparents; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11 am, with visitation beginning one hour prior. The rosary will be prayed at 10:45. Following a luncheon, the burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
