Max Clinton "Buzz" Gabourie, 63, of Traverse City, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, after battling a lengthy illness, passed on to a better place on April 2, 2013 .
Max was born on Sunday, August 7, 1949 to Max C. and Patricia A (DeWitt) Gabourie in Traverse City. He graduated from Traverse City High School and served our country as a member of the U. S. Army. He retired from Traverse City Area Public Schools after a 26 year career in the maintainence department.
He is survived by his wife Roni, his mother, Patricia Stratton, his sisters, Maxine and Carolyn and his brother Mike. He is also survived by his children, Brian, Maria, Kelly and Marjorie. Max also enjoyed his 11 grandchildren.
"Buzz" as he was known by many, was a real car enthusiast. From repair to collecting classic cars, it was truly one of his passions. Max loved to sing and host karaoke. He enjoyed encouraging others to be brave and get up and try it themselves. We are all going to miss him very much. Have fun fishing - we love you!
Besides Roni, his other favorite girl was "Annie" his little pooch and best friend, always loyal and always by his side.
Visitation for Max will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by the Honor Guard of Cherryland VFW Post 2780 and The American Legion. Memorial contributions may be directed to The American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
