Traverse City - Maxine E. Bartlett, 85, of Uniontown, Ohio and formerly of Traverse City passed away November 22, 2015 at Akron General Hospice.
Maxine was born on June 8, 1930 in Clio to the late Earl and Anna (Duerr) Tolles. She was raised by her late step-mother Marguerite Tolles.
On August 16, 1952 Maxine married the love of her life Richard Junior Bartlett at the Saginaw Church of God.
Maxine and her husband Richard were an extraordinary ministry team that pastored for over 50 years. They served the communities of Anderson, IN, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Alberta, Valparaiso, IN, Traverse City, Saginaw, Mt. Pleasant, Honor. She loved working with children in the children's ministries and puppet ministries. In her spare time she enjoyed making birthday and holiday cards for her family and friends. She was also a seamstress, girl guide and girl scout mentor, and office manager.
Maxine is survived by her husband of 63 years Rev. Richard Bartlett, daughter Rebecca (Melvin) Schafer of Uniontown, OH, Sons Rodney (Penny) Bartlett of Longview, TX, and Dennis (Tracey) Bartlett of Traverse City; siblings Adeline (Duane) Goyldynia of St. Charles MI, Verne (Dianne) Tolles of Burt, MI, Dorothy (Carl) Gunlock of Saginaw, MI and Esther Tolles of Bay City, MI; six grandchildren Alyssa (Chris) Scheck, Amber Schafer, Jessica (Travis) Terry, Samantha (fiancé John) Bartlett, Bethany Bartlett, and Elizabeth (Adam) Nelson; four great grandchildren Nathanael and Anneliese Scheck and Corbin and Abigail Terry; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating Maxine's life will take place on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 3:00 pm with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at Bayview Wesleyan Church.
Maxine will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Interlochen.
