Maxine Ruth Dann, age 103, of Traverse City, MI (formerly of Owosso, MI and Titusville, FL), was called Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Orchard Creek. Maxine was born on November 1, 1922 in Owosso, MI to the late LeRoy and Helen (Spring) Skinner.

Maxine was born into a baseball crazy family. There were many nights that Maxine, her brother Bob, and their dad each had games. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1941 and pitched for the softball team sponsored by Storrer's men's ware. During World War II, Maxine worked on the assembly line at Redmond's.

She married Raymond J. Dann, the love of her life (who happened to be her softball coach), on March 7, 1942 in El Segundo, CA.

In her free time, Maxine loved to follow her Detroit Tigers, make jewelry, swim and shop. She also loved spending time with her granddaughters, flower gardening, entertaining and traveling.

Maxine is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl S. Dann of Kingsley, MI; granddaughters Elisabeth Mowen of Corunna, MI and Rachael (Shane) Ellison of Niagara, WI; great-grandsons Matthew (Jennifer) Ellison of Atlantic Mine, MI and Trevor (Tyler) Ellison of Clarkston, MI; as well as 5 great-great grandchildren and 9 cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband of 64 years.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the caring staffs at Hospice of Michigan and Orchard Creek for their compassionate care of Maxine.

A Memorial Service honoring Maxine will take place at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Traverse City, MI 49684.
