Maxine Weaver Landon, 94, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her home on October 4, 2025.
Maxine was born on July 11, 1931, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Harold and Janet (Cairnduff) Weaver. She worked at The Flint Journal newspaper and attended Flint Junior College. She later worked at the Flint March of Dimes, Kelley Girls Inc, and McClaren Hospital in Flint as a CNA.
On a girl's trip to Tawas City, Maxine met Dale Landon, who she later married. They built a home on Squaw Lake in Fenton, MI, and raised their daughter and son there. After their children were grown, Maxine and Dale made several moves, eventually ending up in Traverse City, MI., where they lived out their lives.
Maxine was known for her kindness, sense of humor, no nonsense approach to life and giving hugs to all. Maxine was a grandma to anyone who needed one, with many of her grandchildren's friends growing up referring her to as "Grandma." Maxine was an expert card player, and in her later years, a card shark, using her age as an excuse whenever her trickery was discovered. One of many examples of her sharp wit and twinkle that stayed with her until her passing.
Hers was a life well lived.
She is survived by daughter Patti (Landon ) Reynolds, sisters Janine Turner and Arlene Harris, sister in law Gloria Weaver, grandchildren Nate (Shelby) Reynolds, Ben Reynolds, Elly (Keith) Hamstra, Josh (Kate) Landon, Eric Landon and Sydny Landon. She also is survived by great grandchildren Alex and Pearl Reynolds, Arthur Hamstra, Quinn Landon and Max and Alexandria Landon, along with many grand and great grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Janet Weaver, her brother Harold (Skip) Weaver, her son Curtis Landon, and her husband Dale Landon.
With Heartland Hospice gently and lovingly providing Maxine and her family with support and comfort, Maxine finished her earth side journey peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home.
A private family gathering will be held at a later time.
