TRAVERSE CITY - Maynard Madison Abbott, 79, of Maple City, passed away on May 8, 2015, at Munson Hospice House with his loving wife and his daughters, Jacqueline and Rebecca at his side.
Maynard was born on February 10, 1936, in Tawas City (Wilbur Township), to the late Alton and Alice (Rollin) Abbott. He married Marlene H. Yiirs on February 22, 2008, in Bizbee, AZ.
Maynard honorably served our country in the United States Army. He owned his own contracting business, building both commercial and residential buildings. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Masons, a Shriner, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. Maynard loved to fly and enjoyed golfing, reading, motorcycles, and playing euchre.
Surviving Maynard is his wife, Marlene, daughters, Jacqueline Abbott, Camella (Matt) Hinckley, Rebecca (William) Wagner, grandchildren, Brandon Gingerich, Thomas and Tyler Rudolph, and Sarah HySinger, siblings, Richard Abbott. step daughter, Juliet (Don) Wichern, grandchild, Hannah Wichern, step daughter, Renee (Jason) Klingelsmith, grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, Darcy, and many other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Maynard on Monday May 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Munson Hospice House, the Cherryland Humane Society or charity of choice.
