Meddie Allen Brown, 92, of Traverse City and formerly of Flint, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Meddie was born on Thursday, August 31, 1922 to the late Meddie and Vera (Vasch) Brown in Blytheville, AR. He married the former Elaine Louise Burley on August 27, 1944 and she preceded him in death in 2008.
A veteran of WW II, Meddie served in the U. S. Army and was involved at the Battle of the Bulge.
Having been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone as a switchman for many years prior to his retirement, Meddie enjoyed keeping in contact with his retired colleagues at "The Breakfast Club" that met at Wally's in Flint. He appreciated time spent with his family.
Meddie is survived by his children, Randy (Karen) Brown of Traverse City; Mark Brown (Teresa) Farmer of Flushing; Barbara (Dave) Brown of Wittimore; nine grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; his siblings, Opal McElroy of Plainfield, IN and Juanita Richardson of Tennessee. He is also survived by his good friends and neighbors, Fawn, Scott and Rachel Bullen.
Meddie will be remembered with Military Rites at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 15 at Veterans Memorial Park on Eleventh Street on the Grounds of the Grand Traverse Commons, Traverse City. His cremated remains will be inurned with those of his wife at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
