Obituary

Melvin Peter Pahl, 76 of Traverse City completed his earthly journey and has gone on to the great promise of everlasting life on Friday, May 17, 2013 of a broken heart at his home.

Melvin was born on August 10, 1936 in Plymouth MI. He married the love of his life, Edith "Jeannette" Clutterbuck on May 17, 1958 in Traverse City. Eventually they were blessed with two wonderful daughters Susan and Jeannie.

Melvin answered the call of Duty and served our country in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his time in service he worked and retired as a Chief Engineer for Cone Drive. He was a Member, an Elder and a Trustee of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Traverse City for many years. He was also a dedicated blood donor for the Red Cross.

Melvin was an outstanding man both to his peers and especially his family. His kind heart and loving soul will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Melvin is survived by his daughters, Susan Pahl of Traverse City and Jeannie (Frank) Vaughn of Bloomfield Hills, grandchildren Jennifer Pahl of Traverse City and Frank Vaughn III of Bloomfield Hills, a sister, Shirley (William) Ormsby of Charlevoix, sister-in-law, Juanita Lautner, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Melvin is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, his parents and his brother Carl Pahl..

Funeral services for Melvin will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 1:30pm with a visitation held one hour prior at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. Pastor Robert Zagore will serve as officient. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
