Meredith Schug, 83, of Lake Ann, passed away on June 24, 2016. He was born in Fayette Township, Ohio to Dennis and Lucy (Williams) Schug on May 31, 1933.
Meredith and his family resided in Riverview, Michigan. After retiring from McLouth Steel in 1982, they moved to Lake Ann, where they enjoyed many family vacations. Meredith went on to work 15 years for Century Sun Metal Heat Treating in Traverse City, retiring in 1998.
He and his wife were active members in the Traverse City Church of Christ. He also enjoyed being a part of the Cherry Capitol Region Model "A" Restorers Club, car shows, hunting, reading and watching westerns, and was an avid stamp collector.
Meredith is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn (Beaubien), daughter; Darlene Schug, daughter; Jenny Schug, son; Ken (Corinna) Schug; daughter; Denise (Steve) Loomis, and his added extra daughter; Beth (Joe) Klenczar, and his sister Carole Himes and her children; Patricia, Kevin, and Lori.
Also surviving Meredith are his grandchildren; Rachelle, Corey, Brian, Eric, Hannah, Alan, Courtney, Emily, and eight great-grandchildren.
Meredith was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Traverse City Church of Christ for their mission work: PO Box 5320, Traverse City, MI, 49696.
A memorial service will be held at the Traverse City Church of Christ, 3250 Rennie St., on Saturday, July 30. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with a service at 11:00. The family would like to encourage anyone who plans to attend the memorial service to drive their vintage or special car in honor of Meredith's life and passion for cars.
