Meredith Lynne Smith, 36, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 2, 2013 at her home.

Meredith was born on Friday, April 15, 1977 to Thomas L. and Deborah (Starr) Smith in Lima, OH. She was a graduate of Wapakoneta High School in Wapakoneta, OH.

Meredith was a people person who could see the best in everyone. She made a friend with anyone who crossed her path and was loved by many. She enjoyed visiting with her friends, spending time at the beach, swimming, reading, as well as listening to music. She especially cherished the time spent with her sons. Meredith had been employed as a nursing assistant until her disabilities limited her.

Meredith is survived by her sons, Jacob and Tyler Leonard of Traverse City; her Mom, Deborah Starr of Traverse City; her siblings Miranda (Justin) Tolar of Houston, TX, Thomas (Cait) Stalteri of Traverse City, Susan (John) Dile of Toledo, OH, her nieces and nephews, Juliet Tolar, Laila and Odin Stalteri, Wyatt Ameel, her grandmother, Mary Starr of Lima, OH; her former husband Bryan Leonard and a former sister in law Niki Stalteri of Kingsley and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her Dad and grandparents.

A memorial service to celebrate Meredith's life will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug, 8 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts in Meredith's memory may be directed to a fund to benefit her sons c/o The Grand Traverse Regional Foundation, 250 E. Front St., Traverse City 49684. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
