In Loving Memory of Michael "Terry" Burton

Michael "Terry" Burton, a lifelong resident of Traverse City, was born on June 3, 1943, and peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in Suttons Bay, Michigan.

Terry spent his early years on the Burton family farm on Kroupa Road on Old Mission Peninsula. A graduate of Traverse City Senior High School in 1962, he went on to serve in the United States Army for nearly four years, receiving an honorary discharge in 1966.

In 1967, fate led Terry to the love of his life, Ruth Ann Lewis, at a wedding where he was the photographer. Their connection blossomed, leading to their marriage on May 11, 1968. Together, they were blessed with two children, a son named Jeffrey and a daughter named Jill.

Terry's passion for photography spanned over 50 years, shaping his life and creating cherished memories for countless individuals. Whether capturing the joy of weddings, the warmth of family gatherings, or the innocence of newborns, Terry had a gift for telling stories through his lens.

He is survived by his son, Jeff, daughter, Jill, and his beloved granddaughter, Meaghan. Terry is preceded in death by both of his parents and his loving wife of 43 years, Ruth.

A private celebration of Michael's life will be held later this Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Hospice of Michigan.
