Michael Heiko Pierce, 56, peacefully shook off his mortal coil after a year-long battle with cancer, at home with family. A loving man of quiet intelligence and dry humor, Mike cherished his family, and loved hard science fiction and Humanism in equal measures. He was a proud co-founder of Traverse City-based iOmni LLC, serving as VP of Technology. Born into a military family in Wiesbaden, Germany, Mike grew up in Colorado Springs. He was a graduate of Norwich University and served as an officer in the U.S. Army. As a young man, Mike was a daredevil, skiing black diamond runs, driving fast and jumping out of planes.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jon Anne Willow, children Kyle, Sierra and Glynnis, stepsons Jesse and Harrison, grandson Declan, mother Lisolette and brother Roger, as well as a vast extended family. A celebration will be held in the spring, with details posted to his Facebook page.
