Michael Richard Summers
Mike was born on October 30th, 1988, in Rochester, MI.
Mike graduated from Traverse City Central High school and attended Northwood University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Mike loved his family foremost, he never let us forget it. He was a hockey player from when he was very young. Such a fast skater and great teammate. His final team made him so happy as he was playing with both of his brothers often on the same line. For a guy who loved the ice and snowboarding he became a lover of the tropics. He loved swimming in the Caribbean waters hunting for lobster. He loved living in St Croix and longed to return.
Mike was our smiley guy with a smile and eyes so big but not nearly as big as his heart. We were told and saw how he lit up a room when he entered. He loved his friends deeply. He was our snack king; he always had the best snacks. He loved every crazy tropical fruit and sitting by the ocean shore.
Mike was a giver and a wonderful friend to many. It was such a gift to hear how many lives he touched and saved. Mike was a giver to the end by giving the gift of life. Three people will live on due to his generosity.
Mike was taken by fentanyl. He had worked so hard to kick it. We can only imagine that life got a bit overwhelming, and he slipped. Please spread the word that this horrible invasion that is taking our loved ones at a rate of 300 per day needs to be recognized and fought. Please use whatever platform you have.
Mike is survived by his parents Rick and Sue Summers, his brothers Rob Summers (wife Emily) and Dan Summers (wife Kim). His niece and nephews that he adored, Samantha, Andrew, Max and Ben. He was blessed by his surviving grandparents Ed and Betty Noble and Stan Summers. His aunts Lynda and Mary as well as his cousins Christopher, Luke and Lyndsey. Also, his cat Abbey.
There will be a "Celebration of Mike's Awesomeness "on June 10th to held at Mt. Holiday in Traverse City from noon until 3:00. There will be time for sharing.
We love you Mikey and are so honored and grateful to have been wrapped in your love for 34 years. Skate on.
