TRAVERSE CITY — Michael Lawton Teter, 49, of Traverse City, died Jan. 6, 2011. Mike was born on June 22, 1961, in Dearborn, to Edward Teter and Sandi Atwood.He grew up on Old Mission Peninsula and attended Traverse City Central High School, class of '79. From there he attended Grand Rapids Junior College and continued at Northwestern University in Chicago. He became an American Board Certified CPO.He was the president and owner of the family-owned business, Teter Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc. Mike was also a board member of the Michigan Orthotic and Prosthetic Association. In his spare time Mike enjoyed golfing, hunting and traveling to Fripp Island, S.C. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike is survived by his daughter, Maggie (Joel) Hutton; sister, Sharon Teter; father, Edward (Susan) Teter; mother, Sandi (Don) Thompson; and other family members and friends. He will be deeply missed. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday and Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Faith Reformed Church on Front Street, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Peter Semeyn will lead the service. Graveside services will follow at Ogdensburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Traverse City Junior Golf Association.
