Millicent Jean Wykes Savage, 91, of Suttons Bay, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the French Manor in Traverse City, MI.
Millicent was born on March 29, 1924 in Gaines, MI to the late Kenneth and Catherine (Minor) Wykes. She has two sister, Jackie and Nina Lou. Millicent attended Junior and Senior High School in Saginaw MI, where she graduated from Saginaw High in 1942. It was there in high school where she started dating Lawrence (Doc) Savage and married him on February 24, 1945 in Saginaw.
Millicent enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being in the outdoors. In her youth, as a family, she would go camping on weekends. She enjoyed skiing, playing bridge and sunny days on a beach with friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and very proud of the family she raised.
Surviving Millicent are her sons: Michael (Colleen) Savage, Chris (Deb) Savage, Brad (Cheryl) Savage, Matthew (Dana) Savage; grandchildren: Jason, Cayla, Eric, Sydney, Spencer, Tyler, Calli, Jacob, and Noah; great grandson Emerson; sisters: Jacqueline (Marvin) Brussow, Nina Lou (Herman) Luplow; sister in law: Bea Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers in law: (Marvin Brussow, Herman Luplow, and Arthur Savage.)
A memorial service will take place11am on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Father Fred or Habitat for Humanity. Kindly share thoughts and memories with Millicent's family at
