Mitchel "Mitch" Alan Hosler, 71, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 4, 2025.

Mitch was born on March 22, 1954, in Traverse City, the third son of the late Robert J. Hosler, Sr, and Phyllis J. (Pike) Hosler. He married Vivian Ellen Boyle in Traverse City on September 8, 1973. He was a lifelong baker, spending more than 30 years as the head baker for Potters Fine Pastries.

Outside of work, Mitch enjoyed walking outdoors, listening to music, watching movies, playing games, and spending time with friends at Brady's. Every Sunday during football season, he would be found sitting in his recliner, watching the Detroit Lions; win or lose, he was always excited for the season to start. His greatest enjoyment was when his family came by and spent hours sitting and chatting, playing cards, and having fun.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vivian; his brothers Robert (Mary Jo) Jr. and Michael (Tina); his four children Erica Canfield, Tishri, David (Ann), and Mathew; his 11 grandchildren Josie (Mitch) Clement, Robert, Saroiny, Temperance, Elsie (Adam), Vivian, Lillian, Mathew Jr (Rachel), Maryjane, Carter, and Isaac; his nine great-grandchildren Blakelynn, Olin Jo, Charlotte, Desmond, Mason, Elyza, Joseph, Sylas, and Oliver; and his unofficial daughter Beckey (Michael) Craven. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Phyllis, and brothers David and James.

Visitation with the family will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 2:00pm with a Memorial Service held afterward at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the National Kidney Foundation.
