Obituary

Myrtle Mae Moore passed away on May 15, 2023, at the age of 87 years old. She was born August 30, 1935, in Cheboygan County the daughter of Charles and Alice Shann, nee Bolinger, the fourth of fifteen children. Myrtle attended Wolverine Public Schools, graduating in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Cecil R. Moore; sons Steven B. Moore, Michael S. Moore, Darin A. Moore; her parents; and 11 siblings. Myrtle leaves behind her eldest son Brian W. (Elizabeth) Moore; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and special friend Calvin Duncan.

Myrt loved to work in her yard raising many, many varieties of flowers that were so impressive that strangers were known to stop and inquire about her flower beds. She also had a very extensive vegetable garden which provided many delicious meals for the family and friends. In their years together Myrt and Cecil owned and operated several businesses. A Sinclair Service Station in Lansing, Long Lake Bait Shop and Long Lake Dairy Bar west of Traverse City and Actron Steel, Inc.

Myrt loved to travel, she and Cecil first visited Hawaii for their 25th wedding anniversary and returned for multiple visits. They travelled to both coasts of Mexico, participated in group trips to Europe and of course, visited Canada many times. There were many summers of camping in Northern Michigan where they would spend time with their grandchildren. Getting to sleep over in the camper, building campfires and making s'mores with Grandma are special memories. On her own, Myrt loved to 'galivant' as we used to tease her, travelling around the State to visit her many relatives.

She also began to winter in Florida, and it was here that she met Calvin Duncan. Myrt and Calvin spent many winters together in the Sunshine State. During the summers they would alternate travelling between each other's homes with the length of the visits determined by the grass mowing schedule.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will not be held for Myrtle.
