Nancy Marie Amidon, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
She was born on September 18, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio to Arthur and Marilyn (Brown) Amidon. During her early years she excelled at cross country running and was a member of the Blue Ribbon Track Club. Her family moved to Traverse City in 1972 where she enjoyed horseback riding and took pride in her horse, Leota Mae. She was a graduate of Traverse City Senior High in 1979. Nancy volunteered at Camp Roy-El and worked for Asgard and Goodwill Industries.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara (James) Valesano and Diane (Danny) Reed. Also surviving are 3 nieces and 2 nephews along with many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Grand Traverse Pavilions where she resided the past 10 years as well as her faithful friend, Bruce, her senior companion, Char, and more recently, Hospice of Michigan. She courageously lived with mental illness and MS for several years and was helped by many others along the way as well.
No services are planned. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery at a later date.
Her family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
