Nancy A. Coleman, 82, of Traverse City completed her earthly accomplishments and joined her husband on November 25, 2017 surrounded by family at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
She was born in Traverse City to Elizabeth (Hofman) and Harold Houghton on June 11, 1935.
Surviving Nancy and missing her dearly are her son and daughter Larry (Sandy) Coleman, Laurie Dixon, her sisters; Jesse (Jerry) Fouch Jeri (John) Fouch and Jean Watkowski and her brother in law Bud Watson. Also missing her are her grandchildren; Keith (Ronda) Coleman,
Theron (Amy) Coleman, Brent (Emily Morrison) Coleman, Nathan (Fiancee, Katie Kraemer) Dixon and
Kim Weber, as well as great grandchildren; Kendra, Aiden, Ethan, Megan, Travis, Kate, Emma and Aubrey.
She is preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, brother Gary Houghton, sister in laws; Bea Houghton, June Poertner and Janet Watson as well as brother in laws; Bill Watkowski, Warren Poertner and Robert Coleman.
Nancy moved into Traverse City from Leelanau County in 1954 and married her best friend Glen Coleman.
She was employed at the State Hospital as a Resident Care Aide. Nancy's greatest passion was her family. She would often be found at the grandchildren's sporting events, or preparing for the family to come for dinner. In her free time she enjoyed volunteering with the elderly as well as traveling and doing crafts. Rarely would she miss a Detroit Tiger's game as she was one of the most loyal fans. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will take place Wednesday November 29, 2017 from 5-7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Thursday November 30, 2017 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior also at the funeral home. Pastor John Clark will officiate. At the request of Nancy and her family, please dress casually to come and celebrate her life.
Nancy's final resting place will be Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with her husband.
