Nancy Lee Haywood, 79, of Empire passed away Friday, October 09, 2015 at Tendercare of Traverse City.
Nancy was born on March 9, 1936 to the late Anthony and Augusta E. (Scheidel) Lautner in Acme. She married Robert Lewis Haywood on December 18, 1954 in Traverse City.
Nancy was a graduate of Traverse City High School. She had worked along side her husband Bob as a dairy farmer and is fondly remembered as an incredible baker, especially homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, as well as making the best casseroles out of left overs. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but really enjoyed playing cards, often knitting and playing cards at the same time. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliaries of Empire and Traverse City and attended West Side Community Church.
She is survived by her children, R. Paul (Tammy), Valerie (Warren) Banaszewski, Penny (Rick) Rosendall, Vickie (Ray) Flowers; grandchildren, Bob (Kate), Rachel (Tom), Nicki, Andrew, Jacob (Nicky), Randy (Amy) Richard, Emalyn, Shawna (Steven), Danielle (Kreg), Ally (Daniel) and Michael and her great grandchildren, Olivia, R. Otis, Nora, John Paul, Brayden, Theo, Raylee, Charlie, Felix, Sebastian, Mila, Daniel and Eliza. Nancy is also survived by her sister Betty (Tom) Haywood and brother Charles (Kathy) Lautner, sisters in law Wilma Lautner, Carol Haywood and Jane (Robert) Boomer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her grandson, RJ Flowers, her sisters, Elinor Hermann, Elaine Skiver, Alberta Gee, and Dorothy Hughes and brothers, Don, Merlin and Earle Lautner.
Visitation for Nancy will take place today, Monday, Oct. 12 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, also at the funeral home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
