Nancy Lynne Kellum, 86, of Traverse City passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 with friends at her side.

Nancy was born on December 31, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late Edwin and Vera (Randolph) Newquist.

She graduated from Flint Northern High School and received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Michigan State University. Throughout her career, Nancy worked as a nurse and educator at the Flint City Health Department, McLaren Hospital (Flint), Flint Community Junior College, Interlochen National Music Camp, the University of Colorado Denver (where she developed a passion for cardiology), and then at Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak), and Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital.

While in Denver, Nancy met Wilford "Blaine" Kellum. They were married in 1968 at Central United Methodist Church in Flint, and shared 48 wonderful years before Blaine died in 2016. They enjoyed hosting summer campfire parties and winter fondue parties for friends to celebrate the longest and shortest days of the year. Especially after retirement, they loved travel and camping, with one of their favorite trips being to Alaska. Nancy was a devoted Christian, being a member of the Methodist church all her adult life both in Flint and for many years at Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City.

Nancy is survived by cousins in Michigan and across the United States, and many close friends including

Janet and Mike Kronk, David and Alyce Fink, Everett and Merry Youker, Lori Larson, and Jodie Carley. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Kuhn who cared for both Blaine and Nancy for many years. Thanks also to Orchard Creek Facility Staff and Munson Hospice Team who cared lovingly for Nancy during her final weeks. Her final days were very peaceful.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, and many cousins and friends.
Per Nancy's wishes, cremation has occurred. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City, next to her beloved Blaine. Kindly share thoughts and memories with friends and family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
