She will be forever loved and missed by her sons Benjamin (Shelley) Peterson, Stefen (Grace) Peterson, Anders (Korrie) Peterson, Charles (Liza) Peterson, and her daughter Rebecca Frediani. Her great niece and nephew Madison (Dan) Legris and Eric Jordan. Her unofficially adopted son Jon Mathesius. Her grandchildren Hannah Johnson, Taylor Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson, Jasmin Peterson, Gabriel Peterson, Dylan Peterson, Jacob Peterson, Hailey Peterson, Mason Peterson, Rachel Frediani, Charlotte Peterson, and great-grandchild River who will never forget the love their grandmother gave them.
Our mother, grandmother, aunt and friend was the most gracious and loving individual any of us ever had the pleasure of knowing. From the time she was very young she dedicated her time and energy to help those in need. She was especially a voice for those that did not have one.
She constantly made life a fairytale adventure, much to the delight of the children that always surrounded her. She constantly encouraged her children and grandchildren to have manners, but enjoyed watching etiquette go out the window.
Nancy was born in Wheaton, Illinois to Benjamin and Betty Peterson and had one sister Charlotte. She loved her niece, Elizabeth, like she was another sister. Nan raised her children in Mendota, Illinois and made many friends. She spent her most recent years in the north woods with her loving and devoted husband Bradley Derington.
The family is being cared for by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A graveside service will be held at the Amble Cemetery on Saturday at 1pm. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Mendota, IL.
