Nancy Simmons, age 66, passed away on April 19, 2023, when she was called home by the Lord. She was born in Grand Haven, Michigan to Robert and Florence Sloothaak. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1974 and Ferris State University in 1978. She worked with special needs children and adults for her 30-year career with the TBA ISD school district. She married the love of her life Randy Simmons on November 9, 1997.

Nancy was a bright light that was very caring, giving, and compassionate in all areas of her life. She lived her life as a Proverbs 31 woman and also embodied the fruit of the Spirit. She enjoyed the beach, her flip-flops, flowers, knitting, painting, and traveling. What she cherished most was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She lived each day to its fullest.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her husband Randy Simmons; two children, daughter Sara (Luke) Webb and Danny Bristol III (Sarah) and two stepchildren; Jason Simmons and Jennifer Simmons; twelve grandchildren Camden, Rylee, Jackson, Cole, Troy, Willow, Kane, Charlotte, Jaxson, Lexi, Bryce, and Brianna. She also is survived by her mother Florence (Gustafson) Sloothaak and two sisters Maryann Cantu (Craig) and Barbara Sloothaak (Bruce).

A visitation for Nancy will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City on Wednesday, April 26th from 5:00 -7:00 pm, and a celebration of life on Thursday, April 27 at Fresh Wind Christian Community Church at 18201 Honor Hwy, Interlochen. Noon visitation and service at 1:00 pm.
