Nathanael Phillip Amrhein

October 29, 1989 — April 26, 2017

Nathanael Phillip Amrhein, 27, of Homestead Township in Benzie County, went home to be with Jesus and many relatives and friends, including his grandfather John Amrhein and grandmother Lois Juengel, He died of natural causes on April 26, 2017.
Nathanael, known by his friends as Nate, was born October 29, 1989 to John and Jacqueline (Juengel) in Big Rapids, the first of his siblings to be born in Northern Michigan. Nathan, as his mom and dad still called him, was the middle child in a family that loved deeply. His life was fueled by the love and forgiveness of Jesus, and he rarely missed an opportunity to help others in need.
Nathan always loved being outdoors, and working on the family farm with his siblings and parents. They cared for a flock of over one hundred sheep, and Nathan enjoyed taking his turn as the chief shepherd.
He started his first business venture during high school. He purchased old snowmobiles, and sold their parts. He was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer. He was a hard worker, enjoyed the people he worked with, and gained skill in several fields. A true entrepreneurial spirit led him to open a car repair shop in Interlochen last fall.
The true loves of Nate's life were his wife Jenny, and their four children. While he enjoyed excelling at his work, engaging in lively discussions with friends and family, and helping people; doing things with his family were his favorite activities. Campfires, swimming at the beach, caring for their horses, chickens, ducks and goats, and spending time at the Northwest Michigan Fair were among the many things he enjoyed with Jenny and their kids.
Nate is remembered as a selfless person who was always giving of his time to others. He was a dedicated father and husband who was hardworking, kind, easy going, always seeing the bright side, a follower of Jesus, a man of deep convictions, and had a jovial sense of humor.
Nate is survived and dearly missed by his wife of 6 years Jennifer Lynn (Humphrey) and their children Madilynn (4), Carter (3), Chadwick (20 months) and Kylee (7 weeks). He is also survived and missed dearly by his parents John and Jackie; grandparents Darlene (Otto) Brantley and Verne Juengel; siblings John (Lindsay), Joshua (Anna) EldenBrady, Andrew (Laura), Sarah (Chris) Collins, Daniel, and Anna; his wife's parents Bob and Candy (Spencer) Humphrey; and her siblings Jessie Humphrey and Matt (Deanna) Humphrey. He is also missed by his nieces and nephews Jonathan, Dallas, Lucy, Charlie, Scotty, Caitlin, and Michael; aunts; uncles; cousins; extended family; and many other friends and loved ones.
