Traverse City - Nick Gasvoda, 63 of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly October 17, 2012 at Munson Medical Center.
Nick was born on December 29, 1948 in Steubenville, OH to the late Paul and Rose Gasvoda of Follansbee, WV. He is survived by his wife Trudy, his sons Michael Gasvoda of Carleton, MI, Richard Gasvoda of Follansbee, WV, and Gary Withun of South Lyon, MI, and grandchildren Michael Gasvoda, Joseph Gasvoda, Curtis Harwood, Tessa Gasvoda, Courtney Withun, and Jacob Withun.
Nick leaves behind his siblings Rose Herron of Follansbee, WV, Theresa Sherwood of Toronto, OH, and Paul Gasvoda of Follansbee, WV. Another sister Rita Klash preceded Nick in death.
Nick was employed as an equipment operator through the International Union of Operating Engineers for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He then moved to Traverse City and stayed busy buying and managing vacation rental properties.
Nick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and landscaping. He truly appreciated all that nature had to offer. The weeks spent at "deer camp" with family and friends were the highlight of his year. Nick touched a lot of lives and will be missed by many.
A memorial gathering in honor of Nick will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 2 until 4pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
