TRAVERSE CITY — Norma Marino, 73, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Munson Hospice House. She was born on Sept. 15, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., and was the adopted daughter of the late William and Ethel (Schmidt) Yaxley.A graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School, Norma went on to study veterinary medicine briefly before settling into careers in the travel industry and then in blood banking for Michael Reese Hospital of Chicago. Upon retirement, Norma lived in Wisconsin and finally in Traverse City. She was an avid equestrian who loved her horses and her dogs.She is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Bill) Sears, of Traverse City, and Nanette Marino, of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jay) Walton, of St. Louis, Mo., Natalie Sears, of Traverse City, and Nick Waleske, of Round Rock, Texas; and by her sister, Linda (Jim) Keller, of Evansville, Ind.No formal services are planned, but Norma will be remembered in a private family service.
