Norman Thomas Crampton, 82, of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Orchard Creek Assisted Living with his three children at his side.
Norman was born on November 19, 1934 in Traverse City to the late Elmer and Gertrude (Steavens) Crampton. He married Wanda Jeanette Hoxie on November 26, 1955 also in Traverse City.
Norman was proud of his Old Mission heritage and his third generation farm. He loved his Lionel Train Collection and was a member of the Northern Michigan Train Club. He bought and sold antiques for over 25 years. He was a member of the "Camping Club" for over 25 years. Also he was an associate member of the American Legion Post and the Old Mission Peninsula Methodist Church.
Surviving Norman are his children, Jeannie Crampton, Thomas (Sue) Crampton, Timothy (Renee) Crampton; grandchildren, Lucas, Madeline, Matt, Josh, Dave, Becky, and Jennifer; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Alexandra, and Ariella, brothers Merwin Crampton and many other loving family members and friends.
Norman is preceded in death by his wife Wanda on January 8, 2017, his parents and sister Mary F. Caulfield.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Old Mission Peninsula Church Youth Group or to the American Legion.
A celebration honoring the wonderful lives of Norman and Wanda Crampton will take place on Saturday May 20th, 2017 at the American Legion Hall , 4001 Swaney Road, Old Mission Peninsula.
