Onahlee Ruth Crawford

Onahlee Ruth "Corky" Crawford, 87, of Traverse City died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Onahlee was born on Saturday, March 27, 1926 to the late Faber and Maybelle (Bowen) Valley in Grand Rapids. As a small child, Onahlee returned to her hometown of Traverse City, and grew up on her family's cherry farm on Old Mission Peninsula. . On Saturday, October 19, 1946, she married A. Rex Crawford in Traverse City. He preceded her in death in 1987. Following Rex's death, Onahlee re-connected with childhood friend, Chuck Klepac. They were blessed to spend 24 years together, enjoying each others company, playing golf and traveling.

Onahlee loved to golf and was a member of the Nine Hole Club at the Traverse City Golf and Country Club. She also was a member of the Daisy Chain at the Elks and, in addition to golfing, enjoyed bowling and playing bingo.

She is survived by her children, Pam (John) Bergman, Thomas (Vicky) Crawford and David (Becky) Crawford, all of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Kristen (Steve), Amy, Scott, Kelly, Joshua, Zachary, Emily, Travis and Lindsey; great grandchildren Max, Mason and Caressa and a brother Jack (Georgia) Holman of Traverse City. Also surviving is her step-son Arnie (Clara) Crawford of Arkansas and cousin Jackie (Doyle) Pierman of Traverse City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Shari Holden, siblings, Tom Valley, Jeanne Snedeker and Shirley Zook. Also preceding her in death was her long-time companion, Charles Klepac.

The Memorial service for Onahlee will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation on hour prior to the service.
