Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY – Orlin H. Benedict Jr., age 96, of Traverse City, passed away Friday, March 5th, 2021 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Orlin was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI to the late Orlin and Lillian (Hanney) Benedict. He honorably served our country during WWII as a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp (Air Force) as a member of the 2nd Air Division, 389th Bomb Group stationed in Hethel, England. He was a pilot of the B-24 Liberator bombers. Orlin didn't talk much about his time in the service, but he always admired these mighty aircraft.
Upon returning home, Orlin continued to court his high school sweetheart, Gloria (Daniels), and they were married in October 1947. They were married for 73 years before Orlin's passing and raised two sons. Orlin spent the majority of his working years as a manager selling vehicles. Upon retirement, he and Gloria moved to Maple City and enjoyed life on Little Traverse Lake.
Orlin is survived by his wife, Gloria Benedict of Traverse City; granddaughter, Lauren Benedict of Coeur d'Alene, ID; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, June Lukach; brother, Richard Benedict; and sons, David Benedict and Daniel Benedict.
