Patricia "Patti" Ann Knight, 74, of Traverse City, passed away on January 4, 2018. A full obituary will appear in the Monday edition of the Record-Eagle. Patti was born on June 23, 1943 in Kasson Twp. to John and Regina (King) Gersh and was raised by her Uncle Ed and Aunt Francis Stanislawski since the age of two due to Regina's death.
Patti graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1961.
Patti was employed with Kohl's and was one of the first employees hired to open the new Traverse City store. She loved to travel and visited Hawaii, Cancun and Las Vegas and enjoyed going to the casinos with the girls. She was a personal friend of the late Jim Nabors and was invited to attend events and meet celebrities at his home. She always looked forward to the annual summer gathering at Robert and Phyllis Nottke's cottage on Lake Leelanau, where family and friends enjoyed a wonderful fish fry.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey "Scott" (Sue) Knight and James "Chris" Knight; step-grandchildren, Kevin (Leah) Poff, Kyle (Rachelle) Poff; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Ritha Korbin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special lifelong friend Shirley Wood of Traverse City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Aydelotte, Phyllis (Robert) Nottke; and her aunt and uncle, Ed and Francis Stanislawski.
Per her wishes a private family viewing has taken place for Patti and a luncheon will be held at a future date.
