Patricia "Patty" Gail Cray Varney, 55, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Munson Hospice House.

Patty was born on April 11, 1959 in Corning, AR to the late Thomas Huey and Ellen (Bassett) Cray. She married Arthur Lawrence Varney in South Haven, MI on September 13, 1986.

Patty loved to travel, read, tend to her garden and most importantly enjoyed shopping. She was a member of the AMVETS Riders Chapter 1988. Patty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Patty is her husband Art of 28 years, children, Julie (David) Londot, Jeffrey (Tally Sjoberg) Varney, 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Isaiah, Leah, Luke, Townes, and Inga, siblings, Dorothy (John) Lyons, Mildred "Tiny" (Burnis) Turner, Thomas (Mary) H. Cray Jr., Leon (Mary-Sue) Cray, Kathy (Robert) Johnson and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Dennis Cray.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014, 11 am with 1 hour prior visitation at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Pastor Justin Grimm will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to AMVETS Chapter 1988.
