Patricia Ann Frederick passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on December 26, 2014 at her home. She had fought a brave battle against Lowey Body Disease for 2 ½ years.
Patricia was born February 19, 1927 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her family moved to Northport, Michigan where she attended school. She graduated from Northport High School in 1945. She attended Michigan State University, majoring in Home Economics and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in 1949.
In 1951, Patricia met the love of her life, John Frederick, on a blind date. Three weeks later, they were engaged. Three months later, they were married at her parent's home on February 17, 1952. For 62 years, they enjoyed life, side by side, each other's best friend.
Patricia was active in her community. She was the President of her church's women's fellowship; President of the Drama Club; and Girl Scout Leader.
Her greatest gifts were her kindness, generosity, selflessness and compassion. She was a friend to all.
Patricia loved traveling, cooking, entertaining, shopping and "eating out". Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her dog, Harley.
She is survived by her husband, John Frederick of Traverse City; her daughter, Cathie of Traverse City and fiancée, David Cookingham of Gaylord; her nieces, Bonnie(Mike) Rebone of Buckley and Judy Johnson of Tustin; and her beloved dog, Harley.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Paul Smith; her brother, Bruce Smith.
A graveside service will be held at Northport Cemetery on May 15, 2015 at 3pm with a celebration of life dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, the Cherryland Humane Society or Hospice of Michigan. The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
