Patricia L. Gorno

Patricia Gorno, loving mother and grandmother, was born on September 18, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan.

She passed away peacefully on October 1 in Traverse City, where she moved in 2025. Daughter of Harold and Myrtle (Eddy) Kline, Patricia grew up in Sturgis, Michigan. She married Michael Gorno and they raised their family in Trenton and Holland, Michigan.

Patricia earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Michigan State University and taught in Petoskey. She later earned a master's degree from Western Michigan University. Her strong belief in education inspired her lifelong commitment to creating opportunities for children and families. No stranger to the schools or classrooms, she served on the Holland Public Schools Board of Education and the Ottawa County Mental Health Board.

Patricia spent her retirement years in Bonita Springs, Florida and Flat Rock, North Carolina. She appreciated the natural beauty of both places, and enjoyed reading, tennis, pickleball, Mahjong, Canasta, and any other game she could persuade friends and family to play.

Patricia is survived by her children and grandchildren: Lisa Trombley of Traverse City (son Chase), Kerri Gimbel of Highland Park, IL (children TJ, Kylie, Cooper), Steve Gorno of Zeeland (wife Peg and son Michael), and David Gorno of Holland. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Larry Kline and Roger Kline; and her eldest son, Michael.

Patricia’s family was her greatest joy. She was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment with them. She will be remembered by family and friends for her intelligence, wit, and genuine interest in others.
