Obituary

Patricia Mae Hull (Wright), of Traverse City, passed away March 24, 2023, at age 88 surrounded by her family.

She was born March 19, 1935, in Ludington, the daughter to Vera (Cole) and Lyle Wright.

At a young age Patricia's family moved to Muskegon and then to Ravenna. She graduated from Ravenna High School and then earned her RN from Blodgett Hospital's nursing school. While working as an industrial nurse for GM in Grand Rapids, she met her future husband, Stewart Hull. They were wed on October 17, 1959, at the Ravenna Methodist Church. The couple lived in Grand Rapids for a short time and then settled in Rochester, Michigan.

Patricia and Stewart spent their time raising a family and working in the Detroit area. On winter weekends they would pack the kids up and head to Mancelona for skiing. Patricia had introduced Stewart to skiing while they dated and it became the winter family focus. Ski patrol was a huge part of their family life and many, many amazing and lasting memories were made.

In the summer the family would spend weekends enjoying the community pool and their friends. There were many parties full of laughter in the Hull house. Patricia spent years as part of the Pinochle club in Rochester and was a member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church.

When the children were older, Patricia worked at Ford Utica Trim in the plant's medical clinic. In 1991 Patricia and Stewart moved to Bellaire, where she continued in the nursing profession working in the mental health field. She retired from North Country Mental Health in 2015. Following retirement, she cared for Stewart until his passing in 2017, whereupon she moved to Traverse City to be closer to family.

Patricia was a talented artist enjoying painting and drawing. She loved to host family and friends while in Bellaire, enjoying many boat rides on Lake Bellaire. While in Bellaire, she was active with her church, Church of the Hills, enjoying weekly meetings at the local pub to discuss and debate with friends. Patricia had a strong faith and love of God. She especially relished attending Winsome Women Christian retreats at the Grand Hotel twice a year. Later in life, as her memory faded, she continued to be excited to have visitors and met everyone with a smile.

She admired natural beauty especially in the form of trees and clouds. Going for day trips and riding in the car brought her peace and gave her the opportunity to admire the world around her. Although we are saddened that Mom's journey on earth is through, we are grateful that she is at peace and will think of her often, especially when the clouds are particularly beautiful in the sky.

Patricia is survived by her children Susan Hull, Robert Hull, Jennifer "Jody" (Bill) Ewing and John Hull; grandchildren Michael and Kathryn Hull; sister Shirley McClain; sister-in-law Beverly Wright; brother-in-law Donald Usher; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stewart; sister Nancy Usher and brother Lyle Wright.

A visitation will take place Wednesday, March 29, 5-7PM, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
