Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Myers Musson, 86, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Pat was born in Seattle, Washington, April 1, 1938, to the late Harvey and Diana (Greydanus) Myers. She attended Michigan State University, earning her bachelor's degree in education. She met the love of her life, Kenneth Harrington Musson MD, on a blind date at a MSU hockey game. After Ken's first year of medical school, they were married on August 27, 1960 at the Presbyterian Church in Orchard Park, New York.

They moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she taught middle school in Chelsea, Michigan, while Ken continued his medical studies. While Ken interned at Munson Hospital in 1963-64, Pat taught at Traverse City Central Grade School.

They ultimately settled in Traverse City in 1969, and have lived in their same home and together raised two wonderful children, John and Jean, filling it with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Pat was an extraordinary homemaker, wife, and mother. She had a gift for hosting beautiful dinner parties, always incorporating a creative theme and setting an elegant table. She was artistic and clever, enjoying sewing, genealogy, and Inuit and Southwestern art. She had a deep love for books and was passionate about encouraging children to read and learn. Pat also had an incredible ability to connect with people whether it was a neighbor, a dental hygienist, or a cashier at a grocery store. She always remembered their names and asked about their families. Her memory was remarkable, holding onto the smallest details with ease. Pat had the wonderful gift of a fantastic sense of humor and could always get people to laugh. She always found the bright spot in every situation.

She and Ken shared a love for travel, visiting many foreign lands and 49 out of 50 states, only missing Mississippi. She was an avid sports fan, especially Tigers baseball and hockey. They enjoyed classic cars and were proud members of the R.E.O. Club of America, often taking their 1931 Reo Flying Cloud on the road.

She was a member of the Munson Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Cherryland Amateur Radio Club as an Extra Class licensee N8HLK, and United States Sail and Power Squadron as a women's certificate holder.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ken; her children, John (Cyndi) Musson and Jean (Brian) Brooks; her cherished grandchildren Julia, Reagan, and Marshall Musson and Case and Sadie Brooks; her brother, Jerry (Barb) Myers; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Bill (Lois) Myers and June (Teddy) Bobro.
