Patricia Ann (Hainstock) Ross, 87, of Traverse City, passed away October 5, 2022. She was born August 22, 1935 in Frankfort, Michigan, daughter to William Grant and Alice Marie (Voice) Hainstock. She was one of nine children.
Patricia graduated from Benzonia High school and earned an Associate of Arts from Northwestern Michigan College. Following completion at NMC, she earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from Central Michigan College.
She and Walter E. (Gene) Ross were married October 16, 1960.
Pat taught kindergarten at Oak Park in the Traverse City Area Public School District, and served as a librarian at what is currently West Middle School. In addition to her work in the public school system she worked as a tax preparer.
Pat was a gifted singer and always looked forward to being a member of various choirs in the area.
There were many trips to be with family and friends. She deeply enjoyed family gatherings. More often than not she could be found in the kitchen with her grandson Cameron bantering lively back and forth. Cooking and enjoying food was a favorite, in addition to time spent on the piano bench with her granddaughter Heather. Pat was responsible for introducing Heather to the piano, which eventually turned into attending recitals. Also, tears were shed when she heard Heather sing.
Patricia is survived by her husband Walter; son James (Dawn) Ross; grandchildren Cameron Ross and Heather (Jon Rodarte) Ross and great-grandchildren Christopher Ross and Jasper Rodarte.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Memorials may be directed to the Walt and Pat Ross Music Scholarship via Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, The Father Fred Foundation, or a charity of one's choosing.
The celebration of her life will be held on August 5, 2023 at 11 am, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
