Patricia Ann Smith, 81, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her residence July 29, 2016. Pat was born to the late Richard Noel and Margaret Mary (Brisbois) Parsons in Bay City, MI on February 5, 1935.
Pat spent part of her early childhood years in California before returning to Michigan, where she graduated from Bay City Central High School. After graduation she married her sweetheart Al (Frank Allan) Smith and raised three wonderful children. They lived in Midland for many years. As her family grew she went to work in a dental office. Pat earned her certification as a Certified Dental Assistant at Delta College. When Al retired in 1983, they moved to Traverse City, where Pat worked for many years at Maytag Laundry in East Bay Plaza. This was an ideal job for her as she was always very much a people person and enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone she met. She loved spending time at her home at the lake enjoying nature with family, friends, and her pets. She loved all of the wildlife and happily fed them, even the squirrels. The orioles and hummingbirds were her special favorites.
Pat was preceded in death by Al, her husband of 60 years. In addition she was predeceased by both of her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ken Garthe.
She is survived and loved by her three children; Linda (James) Williams, Michael (Nancy) Smith and Patrick (Cathy) Smith all of the Traverse City area, her sister; Marilyn (Bob) Pierce, her adoring grandchildren; Katie (Kyle) Green, Mark Williams, Jacen, Amanda, Melissa and Shelby Smith, Heidi, Beth, Tommy and Mae Muller and great grandsons; Parker Weaver, Taylor Green and Christopher Muller, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration to honor Pat's life will be held on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 11:00am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.
