Obituary

GRAWN — Patricia Jane Trezise, 85, of Grawn, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born in Canton, Ohio, on Sunday, March 1, 1925, to Ruel N. and Wilda (Smith) Wright. The Wright family later moved to Ypsilanti, where they lived for seven years before relocating to Fort Thomas, Ky. Pat graduated from Highland High School in Fort Thomas in 1943. She then attended the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1946. After completing her nursing studies she worked briefly in Cincinnati, then moved to Ann Arbor, where she was on the nursing staff of the pediatric department of the University of Michigan Hospital. She later became head nurse of that department. She retired from nursing in 1952.On Oct. 21, 1950, she married John Trezise in Ann Arbor and lived there for most of the next 30 years. They had three sons, Peter B., John S. and Timothy S. Trezise. After her husband retired in 1980, they moved to a home on the Duck Lake Peninsula outside of Traverse City. In the Traverse City and Interlochen area, Pat served on the board of the League of Women Voters of the Grand Traverse Area, the Michigan Association of Mentally Disturbed Children and was on the Advisory Council for the Arnell Engstrom Psychiatric Hospital for Children. She was also active for many years at the Interlochen Public Library and served on the Library's Friends' Board.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Thomas Wright and Ruel Norval Wright. Survivors include her husband, John B. Trezise of Grawn; three sons, Peter B. Trezise of Lewisville, Texas, John S. Trezise of Rockville, Md., and Timothy (Regina) Trezise of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Sarah Trezise, Carole Carolin, Christina Carolin, Brooke Morici and Jon Carolin, all of Stillwater, Okla.; a sister, Alice (Richard) Coler and a sister-in-law, Mary Wright, both of Green Valley, Ariz.; nieces, nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.There will be a memorial service at a later date when her cremated remains will be interred in the Memorial Garden of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation - Grand Traverse. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to the Interlochen Public Library or the League of Women Voters of the Grand Traverse Area.
