Empire - Patrick 'Pat' Henry Brunet, 66, of Empire passed away at his home with his family by his side.
Pat was born in Frankfort, MI on June 9, 1949 to Henry and Geraldine (Payment) Brunet.
Pat graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1967 and went on to study at Central Michigan University. He joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed around the Great Lakes region.
He moved to Empire after his honorable discharge from the Coast Guard and began his career with the Leelanau County Sheriff's Department where he worked for 35 years as a dispatcher and corrections officer. He also volunteered for the Empire Fire Department. After his retirement he worked part-time for the Leelanau Coffee Roasting Company in Glen Arbor.
Pat was preceded in death by his father Henry (Hank) Brunet.
He is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Nicole (Jarrett) Burgess of Coloma, MI, CPT. Amanda (CW3 Todd) Wolfe of Lexington Park, MD, mother Geraldine Brunet of Empire, brother Michael (MaryLee) Brunet of Manitowoc, WI, sister Melanie 'Mimi' Brunet of Michigan City, IN, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Barb (Duane) Richardson of Glen Arbor, Ray (Betty) Warnes of Maple City, Care (Ron) Allen of Empire, Mare (Boone) Harriger of Empire, Angie (Dick) Plowman of Empire, Kathy Warnes of Glen Arbor, Pam Warnes of Glen Arbor, Greg (Deb) Warnes of Glen Arbor, Jan (Mike) VanRiper of Columbia, IL, Judy (Mike) Aragon of Denver, CO, Mike (Cyndi) Warnes of Glen Arbor. He is also survived by four grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Pat will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 11411 S Lacore Road, Empire, MI 49630, with visitation held one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Philip Neri Cemetery.
