Patrick James (aka PJ, Pat, Papa Pat) Sullivan age 83 of Grawn died at Munson Medical Center January 25, 2023 with his family by his side.
He was born at home in Cleveland Township in Leelanau County on February 18, 1939. Most of the rest of his life he lived on his mother's family farm Homestead in Grawn. His mother, Bethel M. Saunders married James X. Sullivan both of whom preceded him in death. Pat loved farming and collecting Farmall and IH tractors and passed that love down through the family. He drove truck and farmed for most of his life. Many friends were made through his professions. Pat also loved camping with his family and friends and telling detailed stories to anyone that would listen.
Pat is survived by his patient wife Bonnie L. (Evans) Sullivan; sons Mike (Betty Rakan) Sullivan and John (Carrie Hunt) Sullivan; Grandchildren Emily (Daniel) Norris, Sarah (David) Youker, Michael (Megan Ellison) Sullivan, Paul (Ciara Larson) Sullivan, Helen Sullivan; and Great Grandchildren, Kyran Panek, Maddi Sullivan, Macy Sullivan, Cyrus Youker, Wyatt Youker, and Maverick Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister Mary (Duane) Newman; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, many of whom are also farmers.
Cremation has taken place with Reynolds Jonkhoff.
In lieu of a formal funeral, Pat requested that a wake be held in June in conjunction with the Sesquicentennial celebration of the Saunders-Sullivan Farm.
