Patrick Joseph Turner

Patrick Joseph Turner, 63, of Traverse City, MI, passed away Saturday, November 8th after a long battle against cancer. He was born Christmas Eve, December 24, 1950, in Detroit, MI to the late Robert & MaryAlice Turner. He was married to Patti Turner on July 31, 1999 who survives. Pat is also survived by their two beloved dogs, Turner and Whitey.

More than anything else, Pat valued helping others. He was always available to lend an ear and advice if asked. His passion to help people led him to his first job as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), where he was responsible for helping, caring and saving the lives of countless people in need of emergency assistance. He continued his service of helping others as a Fire and Safety Equipment Representative. In this position, he helped protect our Firefighters and EMT's, by supplying them with the most updated and cutting edge equipment that helped protect them, as well as help them, save the lives of others. Then, as an independent insurance agent, he served others by always going the extra 10 miles, to ensure people received coverage, when other agents wouldn't or couldn't obtain it for them. He always fought tirelessly and relentlessly, to get people the best plan possible, which fit their specific health needs.

In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, whether at his house, local restaurant, where he was known to have a straw fight, or social activity. He always made time when and where people wanted to visit. Pat is known for his commitment to people and helping them achieve their full potential through his unique style of guidance. Pat continued to fulfill his passion for helping others by volunteering to help develop the young Boy Scout - Explorers and prepare them to be future leaders.

Pat is survived by his sister MaryAnn (Michael) Gariepy of Corunna, Canada; Nieces: Catherine McCormack, Beth (Jeremy) Buck; Amy (Aaron) Paul. Bob (MaryAnne) Turner. Nephew: John (Jodi) Turner. Cousins: Peg (Larry) Kwacala, Tom (Kathy) Forest, Dan (Kelly) Forest, Kathy Forest. Children: Scott (Christy) Withers, Rich (Karla) Withers, Barb (Ray) Haslip and six grandchildren. Brothers: Roger (Martha) White, Tom (Daiva) White. Sister: Barb (Jim) Maitland. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & MaryAlice Turner, his grandmother, Sister Mary Magdalen Sullivan, Uncle Jack, Aunt Kay Casse, Uncle Bob, Aunt Catherine Forest, Mother In-law, Nancy White, Brother in-law Lysle (Whiz) White.

A graveside service where he and Patti will be laid to rest will be held on April 9, 2022 at 1 pm at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
