Patrick Lee Yanski

Patrick Lee Yanski, 73, a lifelong resident of Traverse City passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Pat was born on Monday, November 26, 1945, the youngest of five children born to the late Theodore Carl and Lorraine Margaret (Wurm) Yanski. He was a graduate of St. Francis High School. He married the former Nancy Jane Chappel on Saturday, October 30, 1965 at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Working in construction as a mason and carpenter, in later years Pat was employed by Kmart in custodial services. He was an avid gardener and kept his lawn in immaculate condition. Pat loved feeding the birds in his yard and was especially fond of cardinals. He enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years, and enjoyed watching basketball and football as well. He and Nancy enjoyed weekend drives around the area, watched old time westerns on tv, listened to country music, especially the old classics. He really enjoyed his dogs, Rocky and his golden, Rusty. More than anything, Pat enjoyed being with his family and spending time with his three grandsons.

Pat is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Tammy (Kneale) Weatherholt of Acme, Tracey (Ronda Russell) Yanski of Interlochen; his beloved grandsons, Brandon and Adam Weatherholt, Tanner Yanski and his great grandson Nathaniel. Pat is also survived by his sisters, Delores Kruse and Betty Popa of Traverse City; his sister in law Ann Yanski of Traverse City and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Geneva Yanski, brother Ted Yanski, brother in law Edward Kruse and brother in law Leonard Popa.

Visitation for Pat will take place from 4 until 6 p.m. Friday, April 12 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, also at the funeral home, with The Rev. Father Raymond Cotter officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, following cremation, at a later date.
