Patsy "Patty" Gallagher

Patsy 'Patty' Ann Gallagher, 84, of Traverse City, began her eternal journey August 27, 2019 comforted by her family at home. The matriarch of the family has completed her earthly journey and will be forever remembered and missed.
Patsy was born February 17, 1935 in Muskegon, MI to the late Victor and Rosamond (Wasson) Bliss.
Her family moved from Muskegon to Traverse City and were neighbors of the Gallagher's. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1953.
The neighbor girl married her farm boy James Gallagher on November 23, 1953. They celebrated 65 years of wedded bliss. That little neighbor girl and that farm boy raised 5 wonderful children and opened their home to countless foster children and unwed mothers. The house was never empty of company or a home cooked meal.
Patsy can best be described as a true saint. All of her selfless acts of kindness, her generous hours of volunteering and her unconditional love for humanity. She spent countless hours volunteering for the Carmelite Nuns, Father Fred, Immaculate Conception Church, Camp Roy-El and the catholic schools. She was a member of the original board for The Community Foundation. Which built the Community Living Center. As well as being a member of the Long Lake Ladies Club and The Red Hat Society. She always cared for and made time for anyone in need.
Patty is survived and missed terribly by her husband and best friend James 'Jim', her children; Michael (Linda), Kay (David) Ingraham, Donald (Colleen), Rose Mary Douglas and Karen (Lee) Bishop, grandchildren; Jim, Amber (Rick) Strang, Ashley (John) Trumbell, Jeremy, Brent (Andrea), Shannon (Cody) Weber, Mackenzie (Shain Ward), Jenie, Joel (Hannah) Ingraham, TJ and Justin as well as19 great grandchildren. Patsy treasured all of her special nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws and close family friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Harvey (Lynn) Bliss and sister in law Sandy.
Visitation will take place on Friday August 30, 2019 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 2-4pm and 5-7pm. There will be a Rosary at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday August 31, 2019 at 11:00am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father James Hayden will officiate. Patsy's final resting place will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, those considering an expression of sympathy may choose to do so to the local Alzheimer's Association or Feeding America.
