TRAVERSE CITY — Paul Otto Kleeman, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at his home in Traverse City. Paul was under the care of Munson Hospice.Paul was born June 6, 1922, in Engadine, and lived there until moving to Traverse City in 2008.Paul was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1942, and served his country in the 140th Calvary Recon TP, until honorably discharged in 1946. He was also in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Round Lake in Mackinac Co., before going into the Army. After the Service, he became a truck driver working in road construction across the Upper Peninsula. In the late 1960s he began working with the McKee Family as Foreman, helping in the building of the breakwall and later the Sand Plant site at Brevort.He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.Survivors include his beloved wife, Doreen (VanCamp) Kleeman, of Traverse City; brother, Rudolph Kleeman, of Engadine; children, Deborah Kleeman, of West Allis, Wis., Paul R. Kleeman, of Engadine, and Rebecca (Matthew) Schram, of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Rebecca (Clint) Carter and Kristopher Kleeman-Schram, of Traverse City, Diana (Todd) Troxel, of Petoskey, Kristi Stephens and Amber (Rob) Beierle, of West Allis, Wis., and Paul P. Kleeman, of Owosso; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis and Wilhelmina (Dege) Kleeman; brother, Reinhold Kleeman; and sisters, Matilda Lehman, Appolonia Shultz and Gretta Kleeman.A family gathering will take place at a later time at 3850 Nimrod Rd., Traverse City, MI 49685.Please sign Paul's online guestbook at
