Paul Mitchell Lorenz, 76, of Interlochen, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Munson with his loving family at his side.
Paul was born on March 10, 1948 to the late Paul and Mary Catherine (Davey) Egan. After Paul's dad died when Paul was 8, his mother remarried Thomas Howard Lorenz Jr. Paul graduated from Benzie Central High School in the class of 1966. He married the love of his life Vicki Lynn Smith on July 15, 1978 at Grawn United Methodist Church.
After school he began his career in road construction. He worked for Peninsula Asphalt, Traverse Asphalt, and retired after many years of hard work as a tack driver with Elmers.
In his spare time Paul loved the outdoors. Camping, hunting, fishing with his buddies, and tinkering in the pole barn. In the winters he enjoyed taking apart old Chevy's and hauling wreck vehicle's for Gene's Auto. He was a huge Detroit Tigers Fan and NASCAR Fan. He especially loved watching Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Above all spending time with his family especially his grandchildren was his greatest joy, countless camping trips, traveling to Disney World many times and Nashville were among his favorite vacations.
Paul is survived by his children, Tiscia Lorenz, Paul (Amanda) Lorenz, six grandchildren; Makayla Lorenz, Alexis Johnson, Kylee Ray, Dylan Ray, Brayden Lorenz and Adelynn Lorenz and two step-grandchildren; Raymond Shaver and Alina Grate.
Also surviving are his siblings, Dorothy "Dottie" (Jerry) Baker, Carol (John) Witkop, Daniel (Paula) Lorenz, Larry (Michelle) Lorenz, Deborah Lorenz, and many nieces and nephews, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as his beloved dog, Tucker.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Vicki, his siblings Judy Daily and John Lorenz.
A memorial service honoring Paul will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
