Obituary

Paul John Maciejewski Jr, 77, of Traverse City, our spirited, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was born into eternal life on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Munson Hospice House.

Paul was born in Bay City on May 10, 1938, the son of the late Paul and Irene (Gatza) Maciejewski. In August 1995, Paul was united in marriage to the former Betty Reynolds. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked for many years as a civil engineer and entrepreneurial business owner. He built the first ever storage business north of Detroit, owned a beer and wine distributorship, and owned two restaurants at the Birch Run Outlet Mall. Paul and Betty owned and operated Watermelon Sugar art gallery in downtown Traverse City. Paul was also a residential contractor building and remodeling homes. Known for his wonderful humor, laugh and great hugs, Paul's love for his family will always live on. Paul was most proud of his children and grandchildren, attending many sports events and awards ceremonies.

His true love was the outdoors; camping all over Michigan, the Upper Peninsula and Canada, fly fishing on the Boardman River and deer hunting with his sons Ken and Chuck. In addition, Paul enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students, cooking for guests at their Bed & Breakfast and traveling with Betty to places near and far.

Paul leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of twenty years, Betty. He influenced and formed the lives of his children in more ways than he could ever imagine and will forever be missed by Jackie and husband, Chuck Erway, Ken Maciejewski and wife Shelly. Paul is also survived by his grandchildren, Erica, Jenna and Kristy Erway; Tori and Andrew Maciejewski; siblings, Michael Maciejewski, John Maciejewski, Barbara Abeare, Susie Shepherd and her husband Tom and sister-in-law, Carol, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Paul was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Tom Maciejewski, Godson Luke Maciejewski; and in-laws, Joanne Maciejewski, Judy Maciejewski, Raymond Abeare and Violet Davis.
