Paul J. Patchen II, age 93, of Kewadin, MI met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Paul was a kind and gentle man, who truly had a heart of gold. Discovering his passion working with machinery at the age of 15, Paul spent most of his life working as a Patent Liaison Engineer. Throughout his career, he established many patents; however, if you asked him, his greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life, Violet, in 1981, which he described as his greatest joy. Finding his true soulmate taught him how sacred marriage was and he would encourage everyone he met to cherish the amount of importance that goes into choosing a mate. Above all, Paul was a man of faith and a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids, and most recently, Eastport Baptist Church.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Violet Patchen, and his brother, David Patchen.
He is survived by his children: Paul J. Patchen III, Lisa (David) Burr; step-son, Tom (Peggy) Comfort, and two grandsons. He also leaves behind many good friends.
A Celebration of Life honoring Paul will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Elk Rapids Bible Church, 400 E. 3rd Street, Elk Rapids, MI. Interment will take place following the service at 2:30 p.m. in Lakeview Cemetery in Torch Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Acme Christian Thrift Store & Food Pantry.
